Daniel is currently a graduate student in Fashion Design at Parsons New School of Design in New York City. Daniel is on the Dean's List at Parsons and is a recipient of the Li & Fung Scholarship Award for 2013/2014. Prior to Parsons, Daniel studied graphic design at the Toulouse Lautrec College in Peru. After school, Daniel worked as an Art Director on the Coca-Cola and Nestle accounts at the leading global advertising firm McCann Erickson. Over the last several years, Daniel has worked as a freelance Art Director for several American and European companies.
Daniel's love for the fashion industry began at an early age in Peru when he started watching his grandmother Maria working on her Singer sewing machine. Growing up in Peru, his inspiration has stemmed from his country's traditional clothing from the Coast. Traditional clothing in Peru, especially from the northern coastal region, is characterized by predominantly black and white colors with bright colored accents and unique embroidered details. In addition, given the country's large Japanese population, Daniel has been inspired by clothing with a unisex look and straight clean lines.
As an aspiring fashion designer, Daniel wants to experiment with different shapes, volumes and cuts to create clothing that will evoke a sense of individuality. At the same time, he would also like to make the process of choosing everyday "on the go" clothing exciting.
